Foundation of Kaival Sales
Kaival Sales began as a modest trading firm selling third-party products. Through market research, the company identified an opportunity to introduce lightweight plastic manhole covers to an industry dominated by heavy cast-iron covers.
First Mold & Market Breakthrough
An early calculation error resulted in a 22×16-inch mold instead of the intended 24×18-inch design. Undeterred, Mahendrabhai Patel carried the sample on his scooter and approached vendors across the market. Despite skepticism about plastic covers, a dealer placed the company's first order of 500 pieces just ten days later.
Pioneering Plastic Covers in India
Kaival developed new standard sizes, including 24×18-inch rectangular and 18×18-inch square molds, pioneering plastic manhole covers across India
In-House Granule Formulation
Early products faced deformation after intense sunlight exposure, resulting in returned orders. Instead of backing down, Kaival invested in R&D and developed its own custom reprocessed granules to address heat deformation and successfully re-entered the market.
Insert Molding Technology
To meet increasing demand for heavy-duty applications, Kaival introduced insert molding technology, embedding internal metal rods within plastic covers to significantly increase structural strength.
KPPL & Portfolio Expansion
What began in 2004 as a bold experiment evolved into Kaival Plastic Private Limited (KPPL). Today, KPPL offers a portfolio of Plastic, Heavy Plastic, and FRP manhole covers across India.
